The Huset’s Hall of Fame Committee is pleased to announce the five new inductees into the Hall of Fame.
They include: Gary Brown Jr, Vernon Hehn, Chad Mellenberndt, Barb Wieskus, and Harlan TerWee.
Brown is second on the all-time wins list with 75, propelling him to eight track championships in the Late Model Street Class from 2001 to 2015. Hehn is tied for fifth on the Late Model Street Stock wins list with 25 in his career. Mellenberndt was the 1995 Outlaw Sprint Car champion at Huset’s Speedway. Wieskus was a staple at Huset’s Speedway and numerous other tracks as an volunteer official scorer, a tremendous ambassador for Huset’s and dirt track racing in general and is the first female to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. TerWee was one of the original racers at Huset’s Speedway in the 50s and early 60s and was destined to have a brilliant career before tragically losing his life in a plane crash in 1963 with fellow Hall of Famer Robin Dump.
These five new members of the Huset’s Hall of Fame will be celebrated at a social and reunion in the afternoon, with the induction ceremony at intermission of the races at Huset’s Speedway on Sunday, July 14th. More details will be upcoming as that date gets closer.
